June 13 - Virginia Department of Forestry Visit

The sky was clear at the morning so we felt great. As usual, we met at the parking lot of Roanoke Civic Center in the morning before we had our session together along the day. Our first session today was visiting Virginia Department of Forestry in Salem. The session brought to us by (name) was enjoyable. (Name) showed us about all activities his organization does to preserve the environment, especially forest in Virginia. From this session, we knew a lot about the responsibilities of people who own a land to use the land well. Also, we knew the aid of Virginia Department of Forestry to keep the forest from wildfire.

After having lunch in Chinese Food Restaurant, we continued our session to visit Roanoke Community Garden. Unfortunately, the weather was not good at all because there was a storm. We could not go outside because of the storm so we just stayed at the room. We postponed our plan to visit Roanoke Community Garden and we changed the activities by discussing our follow-on project. Suzanne led this session and she explained to us the criteria of making our follow-on project. Besides, she also talked a little about what to prepare before going to Global Youth Village as in the next couple day, we would go and stay along a week there.
