June 7 - Washington D.C. City Tour

Our agenda today started with a discussion about United States democratic system in the meeting room of the hotel. The discussion was led by Suzanne. She explained to us the history of United States, including the colonialism era in United States and the civil war which happened in Lincoln`s era. It was a nice discussion as there were a lot of questions from the participants.

After the discussion ended, we would leave for a city tour around Washington D.C. But, before we had that city tour, we dropped in Native American Museum, Smithsonian Museum. The building of the museum is awesome. It has 4 floors and stores a lot of tools and equipment made by the Native American. There is a shop in the 4th floor which sells historical books about Native American, shirts, and the tools which is owned by Native American, like dream catcher.

That day was Friday, so the Muslim participants would do Friday prayer. Fortunately, the Friday prayer was held in Capitol Hill. The Muslim participants were so lucky because they would go to Capitol Hill. While, the non-Muslim participants could not join to visit Capitol Hill, so they just waited for the Muslim participants in Smithsonian Museum.

After the Friday prayer ended, we had our city tour around Washington D.C. Our city tour was guided by Jennifer Oh. We visited some historical sites in Washington D.C., like Thomas Jefferson Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Martin Luther King Monument, and Roosevelt Monument.
