June 6 - WWF and Poolesville High School

Today was our first day in Washington D.C. We visited WWF (World Wildlife Fund) to have a general presentation about WWF itself. WWF is an organization that has aim to protect the endangered species of animal. WWF works in all areas of the world. In Indonesia, it has been working since 1961, especially in area of Sumatra Island and Borneo Island. It prevents the extinctions of animals by working with local community and a partnership with government. Right now, WWF concerns on protecting Orangutan, Java Rhino, Sumatran Tiger and Sumatran Elephant which are threatened of extinction in some areas of Indonesia.

The next visit was to visit Poolesville High School. The students welcomed us warmly and they invited us to have a short tour to classrooms and another rooms in that school. Along the corridor of the school, we can see many artworks of the students which are so cool. We had a sharing time at the end of the short-tour. We talked about anything related to school activities and we compared the education type in United States and Indonesia. This was a good time for us as we could know more about education type in United States which is relatively different with Indonesia`s. One of lot of things that we knew is that the curriculum used in US comes from county, while we, Indonesian get a national curriculum.
