That day was our second day in San Francisco. After we had morning sessions at the Hotel, we left for SCRAP. It is an NGO (non-governmental organization) which recycle the unused things and stuffs to be useful things. When people have any unwanted stuffs in their home, they can send it to SCRAP. The workers in SCRAP will take care of all that stuffs and they will turn it into more useful things that can be sold. Some of the products are statue, artwork, bag, and phone case. Those products are sold. Another people who want to buy can afford it with relatively low prices.

After SCRAP, we went to Building Resources. It is almost the same as SCRAP, but the things recycled here are building materials. When people turn down their house, there can be materials that can be reused. Instead of not using it, people can send it to Building Resources. Mr. Matthew, the owner of Building Resources will manage all that materials. Some of them will be resold. Besides resell those materials, Mr. Matthew also works to create something more useful using the materials which are unsold. He makes a smooth glass that can be used for tiling from the mixture of water and pieces of sharp glass.

A garden from styrofoam
The third visit in that day was to Eco-Center. It is a place for studying about environment. The building of Eco-Center generates the electricity by solar panel, so it does not need the electrical supply from the city. The roof of this building is
interesting. It is a garden which covers all the roof of this building. Besides it can add more land to be planted by plant, the building will be cooler. Eco-Center has a special water treatment to kill bacteria in the water so the water can be reused.
That day was so enjoyable day as we visited three different places, which is NGO, which are so environmentally friendly. We got a conclusion that the awareness of people is needed to make a better environment. The government`s action is not enough. That`s why there must be a cooperation between government and citizen to conserve and preserve environment.
